Peru Expedition 2026: Sacsayhuaman

In the month of June 2026, I travelled with One Million Earthkeepers to Peru, together with my family of Earthkeepers. A journey with the intention to connect with the Inca Ceq’ui System, the local communities of Incan descent and bring ourselves into ayni with the land, waters, huacas and peoples we would encounter, but mostly, to bring our beauty, love and powers there to serve the healing and re-empowerment of the energy system. This system is a web of huacas - places of power - distributed throughout the entire Inca empire that functioned as a grid to energetically govern the realm.

In the coming period I will share some of my experiences in Peru. Stories about the old places of power and temples we visited, what I sensed and received there as information about these places of power and their function for life as we know it.

Sacsayhuaman: The old citadel

As we entered the walkway towards the site I immediately sensed a large field of energy, like hitting a wall. It was a mix of different energies: on one side I could sense the sacredness of the place, and on the other side death, murder and pillaging.

Sacsayhuaman is a complex sitting on the northside of Cusco. It was built in the 15th century but the site was already in use by the Killke people that constructed there supposedly from the 10th century on. From Sacsayhuaman you have an astonishing view over the valley of Cusco.

We visited Sacsayhuaman on the 3rd day of our expedition and it was very extraordinary and special. As we entered the site I entered an area with many small alleys made by natural rocks, with chiseled alcoves and altars in the stone surrounding us and sometimes there was a small clearing with a rock in the middle, with an altar or alcove nearby. It felt like many small canyons cut out by the waters, a very long time ago. There was a sense of death in the air, a very eery feeling. Some of the people in the group became nauseous, sad or felt depressive feelings. That first part of the site, that navigated us through these rocky pathways gave us an impression of the Spanish conquest, killing the Incan peoples. In the midst of it all, I felt the need to start opening sacred space, as if the sacredness needed to be honoured again. And so I did, while walking, I prayed to earth and sky to bring harmony and love again into this space.

A theatre shaped space in front of the main walls

Instead of working with these energies we decided to move on, knowing this part was just the first area of the total archeological site and we only had one afternoon to visit the complex.

We climbed onto the main site, witnessing the grandeur of this massive Inca citadel. Large stone circled squares, walkways up a centrally positioned stone hill, a large square followed and behind the square the famous large stone walls of Sacsayhuaman emerged, stacked on 3 to 4 levels of terraces. You can find these terraces in many Inca sites, serving agricultural practices, for defense or decoration and elevating the main building or square, especially when it would have a spiritual or ceremonial function.

We walked towards these main walls, attracted by the large platform on top. I was very curious what we would feel around the famous walls of Sacsayhuaman.

Walking up the impressive walled structure

I invited the small group I was with, to do a little game of tracking (sensing the stories and information from the past).

While walking, I proposed them to ask themselves: ‘Who am I here in this former time?’ A way to identify with the beings or people that used to live or work here in the original times and learn from them. After having embodied one of these characters and received the impressions and information from their reality, you would thank them and go to a next one. Here is what we shared:

  • I was a general. Inspecting the wall structures, the troops and all the resources needed for the defense of the citadel.

  • I was a student and I felt tensed, having to perform in front of my masters.

  • I was a scientist, an inventor or researcher, doing my research into various techniques of chemistry, physics, applied in the masonry and construction of the site.

  • I was a soldier, stationed here to protect the fortress from an invading force. I was this soldier multiple times, at the end when the Spanish arrived, but also in peacetime or in the beginning of the construction of the site.

  • I was a salesman, selling wares during festivities and celebrations that took place in the main square.

  • I was a peasant, coming here for work, selling my goods at a stand in the market.

  • I was a loved one, walking with my beloved on the walkways, preparing to get married here.

  • I was the Inca, the ruler of the empire visiting to be among the people and speak with them, to connect with the crowd.

  • I was a priest, wearing a white little hat and I was working here with the waters in ceremony.

The experiences during this informative and fun exercise gave us an impression of the people that used to be in this site, it opened us up to the feelings of this place and the kind of activities that took place. After sharing, we continued our walk up, where we could see the panorama of the city of Cusco, while simultaneously we could see big black clouds and thunder rolling through the skies.

On top of the main structure with a view on the second hill

I felt called to move on and go to the top platform. On the top, I sensed very much the presence of Viracocha (the main god of the Inca tradition), I felt the presence of the prayers and connection to the divine, but even more the conversations that used to take place here. The receival of information from spirit and spiritual practices to connect with what the stars would tell the Inca and the Qoya (the female ruler of the Inca empire).

From this top we could see the other hill, which wasn’t surrounded by the typical walled Incan masonry with the familiar large stones. It appeared to be a natural rock formation in the shape of a turtle, rising up from the earth. Some of us had been there already and encouraged us to go there and check this ‘navel’ on top.

Meanwhile dark clouds were coming closer and closer from the Cusco area, with showers on the horizon, lightning flashing and rainbows forming. A mighty landscape surrounding us for what was to come.

We descended from the top of the walled structure, crossing the main square and we started walking up the stairs to the turtle shaped hill. I felt called to move towards the top of this hill, while the others went elsewhere, all of a sudden I was alone on the hill.

I walked around the top of the hill and felt a lot of powerful energies. Rainbows painted the panorama around me. A desire to dance in circles rose up in me, to walk and dance patterns with my staff around the center, to invite the energy into the earth. Lightning flashed, thunder roared in the sky as I neared the navel on the hill. It was a bowl shaped cavity carved into the rock of a meter wide. Approaching it I sensed a huge power rising up from the centre. The closer I came, the more I could feel a beam of energy going down into the earth.

Standing around the navel cut out in the stone

As I was standing there, sense the powers, others joined me and we created a circle. More thunder boomed, lightning illuminating our views. I closed my eyes and I travelled with my consciousness up into the beam to meet the energy connected to this place. As I went up, I encounter star energy. An illuminating star, that is how she presented herself. She told me this energy has been installed into this place for a long time, far back into history, in order to protect the earth with this energy. An energy to fuel the magnetism on earth, a protective energy. It felt like this gravitational binding energy had the function to keep the Earth as a being together, as if it was part of what keeps the world together, supporting gravity and magnetism.

Rain came closer and closer, winds increased in strength and we heard the bus had arrived and it was time to return. So much did I discover this afternoon and so much is there still to learn about this very powerful ancient place of Sacsayhuaman, that carries an energy that precedes the Inca culture but has been honoured and alchemised in their time to serve the balance of this world. To harmonise the relations we have with ourselves and the world we live in.
